On the 26th February 2025 the RAIN Alliance released data on 2024 RAIN tag chips/IC shipments. Volumes were up 18% over 2023, rising to 52.8 billion. Shipments in 2023 were already 32% larger than those in 2022, equating to a 54% increase in shipments over the last two years. One of the drivers of shipment growth cited by Aileen Ryan, President and CEO of RAIN Alliance, was adoption in logistics, healthcare and pharmaceuticals.
Zinergy helps monitor and ensure the safety of fresh food and pharmaceuticals in the cold chain logistics industry by providing power to RFID labels incorporating temperature sensors.
Thanks to Zinergy’s paper-like, thin, flexible batteries, RFID labels can measure and record temperature data offline, transmitting the historical data when scanned by an RFID reader or NFC-enabled mobile device.
Zinergy batteries power RFID/NFC temperature logging labels that can record up to 20,000 data measurements and operate from -30oC to +55oC. The temperature logging interval, temperature thresholds, and the measurement start delay can all be programmed using either UHF RFID or NFC-enabled devices. Available with a choice of batteries to suit the application, the complete label can be as little as 0.8 mm thick, including the peelable carrier sheet.
Thanks to the flexibility of Zinergy batteries, these adhesive-backed labels can monitor the temperature of curved and uneven packages.
